WP Rugby is calling on U20 women’s rugby players to register and get involved as part of its ongoing U20 Women’s Club Rugby recruitment drive.
The programme is open to female players U20, with beginners and experienced players welcome, and is designed to provide a clear pathway into club and provincial rugby. Whether players are new to the game or looking to take their rugby to the next level, this initiative offers an opportunity to become part of an exciting development environment within WP Rugby.
Women are encouraged to register now to get involved, as this recruitment drive reflects the continued priority placed on women’s rugby development by the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU). The programme builds on previous initiatives, including development work such as the High Performance Coaches Programme specifically for women, aimed at strengthening the women’s game across the province.
The growth of women’s club rugby was clear during the 2025 season, where no fewer than 18 teams took part, resulting in teams competing across two pools. Early signs for 2026 already point to further growth, with additional uptake as more clubs have introduced women’s teams.
