False Bay Triumph in Sudden Death to Claim Score WP Club Rugby Sevens Title

The 2025 Score WP Club Rugby Sevens came to a dramatic close at City Park today, with False Bay crowned men’s Cup champions after edging Primrose 6–5 in sudden death extra time.

Backed by tournament partners Score Energy Drinks, CTC Sports, and Cape Rugby TV, the finals day brought the curtain down on three weeks of thrilling sevens action that once again showcased the best of Western Province club rugby.

The Cup final was a nail-biter from start to finish. Locked at 5–5 after regulation time, False Bay held their composure in extra time to seal victory in sudden death and claim the prestigious 2025 Score Sevens title.

Earlier in the day, False Bay defeated Tygerberg in their semi-final, while Primrose booked their place in the final after a hard-fought win over Villagers.

In the other men’s divisions, Durbell lifted the Plate, Hamiltons claimed the Shield, and Kuilsriver took home the Bowl trophy.

The women’s competition also delivered top performances — Busy Bees beat St Georges to secure the Plate title, while St Georges went on to win the Women’s Cup after a solid semi-final victory over Elsies River.

With big crowds, great rugby, and strong support from Score Energy Drinks, the 2025 Score Sevens once again proved to be one of the highlights of the Western Province rugby calendar.
