Course Description

This course equips coaches with the skills to plan, deliver, and review structured coaching sessions.


Who Is It For?

The course is designed for coaches working with a team or group of players, such as:

  • Youth club coaches
  • Club-level coaches
  • School/teacher coaches
  • Representative and talent development coaches

Attendance or Accreditation

This is an accreditation-based course, with competency assessed through:

  • Practical coaching tasks
  • A formal transcript
  • A live assessment visit

Upon Successful Completion, Coaches Will Be Able To:

  • Develop and apply coaching values and philosophy
  • Identify and implement different coaching styles
  • Understand technical and tactical coaching (principles of play)
  • Plan and review practical training sessions
  • Design and deliver attack and defence sessions
  • Conduct practical coaching tasks (starts & restarts, scrums & lineouts)
  • Build a strong team culture
  • Create a personalised coaching development plan

Minimum Duration

  • 30 hours of pre-course work
  • 5 modules of 3 hours each
  • 6-game coaching diary
  • Live practical assessment following course attendance

Prerequisites

To be eligible, participants must:

  • Be actively coaching a team
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Complete all required online tests on World Rugby Passport
