Derbies and Gold Cup action continues

Last weekend, the Paarl Region witnessed some exciting rugby action as Paarl Rangers RFC secured a double victory in the much-anticipated regional finals. In both the first and second-team finals, Paarl Rangers emerged victorious, claiming bragging rights in the Paarl Region Rugby Knockout Competition.

In the second-team final, Paarl Rangers overcame Violets Paarl with a hard-fought 27-19 win. The first-team clash saw Rangers edge out Lower Paarl in a thrilling contest, winning 13-11. These victories marked a memorable day for the club and its supporters.

In addition to the Paarl Region finals, the weekend also delivered intense battles in the Promotion League. Caledonian Roses dominated Albions with an emphatic 68-9 win, while Violets secured a tight 12-7 victory over Sir Lowrians. Delft took down Young Wesley’s , and Watsonia cruised to a 24-5 win over Silvertree.

After all this it keeps going down to the wire. This weekend sees Delft take on Calledonian Roses in the final battle for promotion league champion title and confirmed promotion to Super League C for the upcoming season. Violets are already through safely.

Meanwhile, in Gold Cup action, Helderberg RFC marched into the quarter-finals with a commanding 38-0 victory over Kimberley in Strand. Helderberg will now prepare to host Centurion in what promises to be another thrilling encounter in the next round.

Off the field we continue to focus on development with the successful hosting of another World Rugby course last weekend. The Level One Strength and Conditioning course drew strong participation, and the next course in the series will be the World Rugby Level One Fifteens course, set to take place at Newlands on 11 October 2024.
