Internship opportunities on offer

WP Rugby is offering a valuable opportunity for young individuals to gain practical experience and skills through a structured internship and short course programme in 2026.

The union has opened applications for candidates between the ages of 18 and 30, with a total of 50 opportunities available across both long-term internships and short-term skills programmes.

The 12-month internship programme will accommodate 25 candidates and is aimed at providing hands-on experience in key operational areas of the organisation. These include ICT, Finance, Human Resources, and Administration. The programme is designed to expose participants to the inner workings of a professional rugby union environment, while equipping them with workplace-ready skills and industry knowledge.

In addition to the internship programme, a further 25 candidates will be selected for three-month short courses focused on skills development. These include Design Thinking at NQF Level 4 and a New Venture Creation Skills Programme. These courses are aimed at fostering innovation, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking among participants.

This initiative forms part of WP Rugby’s broader commitment to youth development and capacity building, creating pathways for young people to enter the workforce and contribute meaningfully within sport and beyond.

Applications for both the internship and short course programmes close at 14:00 on 4 May 2026. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply promptly and take advantage of this opportunity to build their future within a professional sporting environment.
