Day 1 Sparks Excitement as Score WP Club Rugby Sevens 2025 Kicks Off at City Park

The 2025 edition of the Score WP Club Rugby Sevens launched in full swing yesterday at City Park, with 30 teams across five pools taking to the field for the opening round. The atmosphere was electric, with fans treated to non-stop Sevens action, passionate club performances, and the visual impact of every team showcasing their custom-designed Score jerseys, now a trademark of this growing tournament.

Pool action was fiercely contested throughout the day. In Pool A, Tygerberg stamped their authority early with a maximum 15 points, closely followed by Eersterivier and Busy Bees. Pool B saw Blue Stars United and Kuilsriver evenly matched at the top, with Hands and Heart just behind. Pool C produced two unbeaten teams—Primrose and St Georges—while Langa kept the pressure on in third. In Pool D, both Durbell and False Bay remained flawless on Day 1, with Delft also performing strongly. Pool E had Villager leading the pack, followed by Pniel Villagers, Hamiltons, and a tight contest in the middle of the log.

With the first round done, teams now shift focus to the second week of action as they look to secure a top 16 finish and qualify for the Cup, Shield, Plate, or Bowl knockout stages. Every point counts, and the next round will be decisive in shaping the tournament brackets.

Adding even more excitement, this weekend also sees the women’s teams entering the tournament. Their matches are set to kick off at 10:00 AM, ahead of the men’s matches at 11:00 AM, setting the stage for a full day of inclusive, action-packed rugby.

Supporters are reminded that tickets for the next round are available online via Quicket.
