Score WP Club Rugby Sevens Launched at Newlands

This past Wednesday saw the annual launch and draw of the Score WP Club Rugby Sevens, one of the most anticipated events on the Western Province club rugby calendar. The launch and draw were hosted at Newlands Stadium, setting the stage for another thrilling edition of this community rugby showcase.

In attendance were Mr Kevin Kiewiets, President of the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU), along with dignitaries from Score Energy Drinks, CTC Sports, and Cape Rugby TV. The evening brought together representatives from all 30 participating clubs, who eagerly awaited the official tournament draw.

The draw saw teams divided into five pools, laying out the path to what promises to be three weeks of intense and exciting sevens action. The tournament will kick off on Saturday, 25 October 2025, at City Park, and will run over three consecutive weekends, concluding on 8 November 2025.

The Score WP Club Rugby Sevens continues to unite players, clubs, and supporters through the shared love of fast-paced sevens rugby. This year’s edition introduces an exciting new feature — prize money, with R10 000 up for grabs for the Cup winners and several more prize money awards across the pools.

The event not only celebrates athletic excellence but also highlights community involvement, brand partnership, and the growing strength of club rugby in the Western Province.
