In Super League A, we see False Bay up against NTK in a match where they know they must secure five points as they sit in position six and are at the mercy of the Stellenbosch results over the next few days. Villagers and Tygerberg are not quite out of the woods yet. Villagers face a motivated St Georges, and Tygerberg are up against log leaders Hamiltons. A win for Tygerberg and Villagers will shut the door on the top five, leaving False Bay, Helderberg, and Stellenbosch to battle it out for the sixth spot, even though the students in theory could go as high third place.
At the bottom of the log, the only possible movement remains between SK Walmers and Kuilsrivier, who will now be desperately trying to avoid the relegation play-off spot. Kuilsrivier face Uni-Mil, and SK Walmers face UCT. With SK Walmers’ win over Hamiltons last week, Kuilsrivier will have to dig deep to stay motivated, knowing that even a win now will still leave their destiny in the hands of the SK results.
In Super League B, we see a similar battle as Hamlets will be looking for critical points when they face Langa, who themselves need the points to avoid playoffs. A win for Belhar or Hands and Hearts will secure their spot, leaving Van der Stel vulnerable and in a must-win position when they face Kraaifontein next week. Victories for all three teams still sees Franschhoek safe in their current fourth.
Super League C sees Rangers in position ten on the log, and this weekend they face fourth-placed Pniel Villagers. This is a must-win game for Rangers to stand any mathematical chance of the top six, while a win for Pniel Villagers will secure their place. A win for Atlantis when they face Blue Jets is also a must to stay safe in the top six. Strand United have one last chance to avoid the play-off as they face a confident Busy Bees, but this only works for them if Blue Jets come out on top of Atlantis.
The Promotion League, after three rounds, sees Sir Lowrians, Blue Stars United, and Albions in the top three as the nine teams battle it out for promotion to Super League C. This weekend, Caledonian Roses face Violets, Delft face Silvertree, Sir Lowrians host Young Wesleys, and Blue Stars United travel to Watsonia.
The Challenge Cup has also gained some momentum, with twenty-four teams from the regions looking to make it to the quarter-finals of the first round. Stellenbosch Coronations and Retreat are in positions one and two respectively in the Challenge Division A after two rounds, with three more to go. In Division B, Raithby Universals remain unbeaten in first, and Titans are in second, while in Division C, Rocklands are on top after two games, but Morning Star and Fisantekraal both have games in hand as they lie second and third respectively. Silverleaf and Young Stars lead the pack in Division D.
This weekend sees a string of women’s games in action as Blue Jets face UWC, False Bay host Brackenfell, and Bellville host Busy Bees in Division One, while in Division Two, we see Kuilsrivier host CPUT, and Maties travel to Macassar. Elsies River are top of the log in Division B, while Bellville lead Division One.
