In Super League A, Helderberg strengthened second place with a convincing 48–21 home win over Stellenbosch, scoring six tries to three and taking the full five log points. False Bay also collected a full return in a high-scoring 54–34 away win over UWC, with eight tries giving them the bonus point that lifted them above UCT into seventh, while UCT slipped to eighth after a dramatic 49–47 home defeat to Kuilsrivier. That result was one of the tightest contests of the round and Kuilsrivier’s five-point haul from six tries kept them in 11th but drew them level on log points with Stellenbosch. Brackenfell’s 45–25 away win at Franschhoek, built on five tries, moved them up to ninth and pushed Stellenbosch down to 10th, while Tygerberg’s 31–10 home victory over Primrose kept them secure in sixth. At the lower end, UWC’s five-try losing bonus moved them up to 12th, with Primrose dropping to 13th after taking no points from their defeat.
Over in Super League B, Belhar stayed on top after edging Hamlets 24–22 at home, with four tries giving the leaders a valuable bonus point in a tight contest. The biggest movement came just below them, where Kraaifontein’s 33–17 away win over St Georges, backed by four tries and a five-point haul, lifted them into second place. CPUT also climbed, moving into third after a dominant 40–7 away win over Vineyards in which they ran in six tries, while Macassar’s 27–27 draw at home to Violets cost them ground and left them down in fourth. NTK’s 34–10 home win over Bellville, with five tries and another bonus point, pushed them up to fifth. Violets did well to take three points from their draw thanks to five tries, and that was enough to move them into the top eight, while All Saints slipped out to ninth.
Super League C delivered both a blowout and an upset. Busy Bees hammered Caledonian Roses 80–12 at home, scoring 11 tries and taking the full five points, although they remain 14th and still have work to do to close on the teams above them. Pniel Villagers’ 24–20 away win over Kylemore was one of the more important results in the top half, as it lifted Pniel into third and dropped Kylemore to fourth. Eersterivier’s 47–27 away win over Scottsdene, powered by seven tries, kept them solidly in sixth, while Sir Lowrians’ 21–10 home success over Raithby Universals kept them seventh and maintained pressure on the top six. Lower down, Langa’s 34–29 away win at Delft was important because the five-point return moved them up to 11th, and Atlantis produced one of the surprises of the round by winning 30–29 away at second-placed Watsonia. Watsonia still held second thanks to two bonus points from a one-point defeat and five tries, but Atlantis climbed above Strand into 12th.
The Northern League saw Whistling Wheels produce one of the biggest away wins of the weekend, beating Excelsior 51–14 with six tries to bank a full five points, although they remain seventh. Faure’s 22–20 home win over Morning Star was a strong result near the top half and moved Faure level on 48 log points with Blakes, tightening the race around third and fourth, while Morning Star stayed fifth after collecting a losing bonus point. Stell/Cor’s 37–12 home victory over Police Blackheath kept them in sixth place and preserved the current top-six shape, with Blue Stars United and Fisantekraal still holding the top two positions.
In the Southern League, Blue Jets kept hold of first place with a narrow but significant 20–19 away win over Masiphumelele, a result that underlined how tight the title race remains. Retreat answered with a solid 29–16 home win over Peninsula and stayed just one point behind in second, while Masiphumelele remained third after taking a losing bonus point. Rocklands’ 21–15 home win over Young Wesleys strengthened their grip on fifth and cut the gap above them, with Young Wesleys at least taking one point from a close defeat. Lagunya made an important move after beating Imiqhayi 35–24 at home, scoring four tries for a bonus point and climbing into sixth, while Peninsula dropped to seventh and Titans remained eighth. Imiqhayi, despite another loss, at least picked up a four-try bonus point.
The Paarl Region log also shifted after two close matches. Lower Paarl’s 32–30 home win over Albions was a major result at the top, with four tries securing a bonus point and stretching their advantage in first place. Albions did well to leave with a losing bonus point but remained seventh. Young Standards’ 17–15 home victory over Riverstones tightened the chase below the top five, yet Riverstones still gained enough from the narrow defeat to move up into third place on 50 log points, nudging Paarl Rangers down to fourth. Young Gardens stayed second, while Perel United held fifth and Young Standards remained sixth but closed the gap.
Central League had only one scored result of note, but it mattered. Young Stars beat Silvertree 17–10 at home in a tight, low-margin game and that four-point return lifted them into third place, pushing Northerns down to fourth and drawing Young Stars level on log points with second-placed Manenberg Rangers. Silvertree at least collected a losing bonus point for staying within seven and remain fifth. Elsies River United continue to lead the competition, but the race immediately behind them has tightened considerably.
A clear theme from the latest round was the value of bonus points, with several teams turning good wins into five-point returns and others protecting their positions through narrow-defeat or try bonuses. Coaches at clubs such as False Bay, Kraaifontein, CPUT, Pniel Villagers and Blue Jets will be pleased with momentum, while teams like UCT, Watsonia, Riverstones and Silvertree will take some encouragement from bonus points in defeat. The pressure is building sharply around the Super League B top eight, the Southern League top six and the middle section of Super League A, where even one bonus point is now making a real difference.
