The battle for top-eight positions continues to tighten across Western Province club rugby, while the pressure is also increasing on the bottom four teams in Super League A as they fight to improve their log positions and move away from the relegation zone.
Villager lead Super League A with 61 log points, followed by Helderberg on 48 and SK Walmers on 46. Durbell and Hamiltons are level on 45, Tygerberg hold sixth position on 37 and UCT are seventh on 36, while Stellenbosch remain part of the top-eight contest. The outstanding result between Helderberg and Stellenbosch could have an important impact on the standings.
At the other end of the Super League A table, the pressure is building on the bottom four teams. With every remaining log point becoming increasingly important, these clubs will be closely watching the teams directly above them while looking for the results and bonus points needed to improve their positions. A single win could make a major difference as the battle to move clear of the bottom four intensifies.
Super League B remains extremely close, with Belhar leading on 53 points. Hands and Heart, Macassar and Kraaifontein are all on 45, followed by CPUT on 43. NTK and Collegians are level on 41, leaving very little separating the teams competing for the leading positions.
In Super League C, Rangers lead with 55 points, followed by Watsonia on 52, Kylemore on 49 and Pniel Villagers on 48. Gardens occupy fifth position on 44, with Eersterivier on 35, Sir Lowrians on 34 and Delft on 33. The small gap between sixth and eighth means every result could change the order.
Elsies River United remain at the top of the Central League on 46 points, one ahead of Manenberg Rangers, who have played one match fewer. Northerns and Young Stars are level on 41, Silvertree have 38 and Silverleaf are on 26, followed by Temperance-Cities on 21.
Blue Stars United lead the Northern League on 55 points, with Fisantekraal second on 50 and Blakes third on 48. Faure are fourth on 44, Morning Star fifth on 41 and Stell/Cor sixth on 31. Whistling Wheels remain close behind on 28 as the contest for the remaining top-eight positions continues.
Lower Paarl have established a strong lead in the Paarl Region with 66 points. Young Gardens follow on 51, Paarl Rangers have 50, Perel United are on 46 and Riverstones have 45. Young Standards occupy sixth position on 40, with Albions close behind on 37.
The Southern League remains tightly contested at the top. Blue Jets lead on 46 points, Retreat are just one point behind on 45 and Masiphumelele are third on 44. Young Wesleys follow on 40, Rocklands have 32 and Peninsula are on 28, while Lagunya and Titans are level on 24.
The Women’s League Division 1 title race is equally close. Busy Bees Women and Blue Jets Women are level at the top on 21 points, with Brackenfell Women only one point behind on 20.
With the margins tight across several competitions, the next round could bring significant movement. Match results, try-scoring bonus points and consistency will become increasingly important as clubs compete to secure their places in the top eight, while the bottom four teams in Super League A face growing pressure to climb the table.
