City Park was heaving on Saturday — the biggest crowd we’ve seen there in a long time — and the rugby matched the atmosphere as the WP Club Rugby Champions Cup semi-finals delivered drama, tries and a full day’s worth of noise.

In Super League A, Hamiltons edged Durbell 35–34 in a breathless classic on the B Field, holding their nerve in the final minutes to book a place in the decider. Villagers, roared on by a big travelling support, overpowered SK Walmers 44–31 to complete a heavyweight final pairing. This was aincredible performance this season for SK Walmers who at this time last year were still in a play off.
Super League B served up attacking rugby from start to finish. Primrose outgunned Belhar 46–34 on the A field with a full stand watching in a free-flowing clash, while Franschhoek again with an abundance of fans were clinical when it mattered, beating Kraaifontein 33–18 to punch their ticket to the showpiece.
Super League C belonged to the frontrunners. Young Peoples cut loose to defeat Violets 56–13, showing plenty of speed out wide, and All Saints controlled the key moments to see off Gardens 45–19.
Finals Day is now set for City Park on Saturday, 20 September 2025:
Super League A — Villagers vs Hamiltons
Super League B — Primrose vs Franschhoek
Super League C — Young Peoples vs All Saints
By the numbers, six semi-finals produced 408 points — an average of 68 per game — with Young Peoples posting the day’s highest score (56) and Hamiltons vs Durbell delivering the tightest finish (one point). From the early kick-offs to the last whistle, City Park felt like a festival: club colours everywhere, hooters and drums in full chorus, and a community turning up in force. Roll on Finals Day.
