Semi-finals, Women’s finals, Promotion League and Challenge underway.

Big weekend ahead for WP Club Rugby as we head to the business end of several competitions. After a number of weeks, we are now at the business end of several of our competitions with our Super League Championship Semi-finals, Women’s finals, and of course, the Promotion League and Challenge Cup still underway.

This weekend, City Park will be abuzz with excitement with a full day of rugby action starting at 11 am. The day gets started with two games of women’s rugby action in the Women’s League knockouts as Bellville Women face Kuilsrivier Women, and CPUT Women face Busy Bees Women.

The first of the Super League semi-finals gets rolling shortly thereafter at 12:30 as we see Super League C teams Atlantis go head to head with Macassar and Goodwood take on Primrose. Super League B gets underway at 14:00 with UWC up against Franschhoek, and Van der Stell take on Kraaifontein.

After this week’s midweek games in some very wet weather at Craven Stadium, our Super League A outfits are also ready for action. Tuesday saw Stellenbosch with a 35-17 win over Villagers, followed by a close 19-17 for Uni-Mil over Tygerberg. Super League A action starts at 15:30 with Hamiltons up against Maties, and Durbell faces Uni-Mil.

The event this weekend, which is broadcast live on SuperSport Schools, is the precursor to the finals on 14 September 2024, also at City Park, with tickets available for both days available on Fixr.co.za. click here to buy now.

We are now almost halfway through the Promotion League, with Watsonia, Blue Stars, and Violets leading the pack. This weekend sees Delft host Watsonia, Young Wesley’s host Albions, and fans can expect a derby match between Silvertree and Caledonian Roses. Blue Stars United travel to Violets.

The Challenge Cup quarter-finalists will be determined this weekend with Retreat hosting Elsies River United, Windmeul United hosting Stellenbosch Coronations, and Imiqayi traveling to the naval sports ground in Gordon’s Bay to face Gordons Bay Pioneers in Division A. Division B of the Challenge Cup has Titans up against Manenberg Rangers, Raithby Universals against Lagunya, and Khayelitsha hosting Police. Manenberg Rangers and Titans are currently on top in this division, sharing equal log points. Retreat and Excelsior go head to head in Division C, while Morning Star and LaMotte Wanderers and Fisantekraal and Northerns face off; this will be a must-win for Fisantekraal. Division D has Silverleaf and Young Stars on top of the log by a big margin, and this weekend has Whistling Wheels take on Bishop Lavis, while Silverleaf travels to the Green Point track to face Young Stars at home, and Young Ideas host Peninsula.
