Quality club rugby all around

In Super League A, Durbell produced one of the standout away wins of the weekend with a 39–26 victory over UCT, scoring six tries and taking a full return that lifted them to fifth on 20 log points. Helderberg were beaten 24–14 away to Villager, a result that saw Helderberg slip out of the top six while Villager consolidated fourth place. Franschhoek delivered the surprise of the round with a dramatic 23–22 home win over Stellenbosch. Despite the defeat, Stellenbosch remained top of the standings on 32 points thanks to two bonus points collected from the match.

Hamiltons were dominant in their 53–19 home win over Primrose, running in eight tries in an impressive attacking display. SK Walmers picked up an important away victory after defeating Kuils River 30–26, while UWC were clinical on the road in their 51–19 win over Union Milnerton. Brackenfell also made a major statement with a massive 99–3 away victory over Van der Stel, boosting their points difference significantly, although they still remain outside the top six in ninth place.

Super League B remained tightly contested behind the leading sides. All Saints secured an important 34–22 away win over Collegians to remain second on 23 points. Belhar continued their strong run with a powerful 58–24 home victory against Violets, scoring eight tries to strengthen their hold on third place.

Bellville edged one of the closest contests of the weekend when they defeated Hamlets 37–36 in a thrilling encounter where both teams secured try bonus points. The result lifted Bellville into fifth position on 15 points. Kraaifontein kept themselves firmly in the top-six conversation after beating Vineyards 37–10 at home with a four-try bonus point performance.

Elsewhere, Hamediehs claimed a narrow 35–31 home win over St Georges, while Hands and Heart squeezed past Goodwood 18–15 in another close fixture. Violets remained rooted in 16th position after another difficult away outing.

In Super League C, Rangers maintained their unbeaten season with a thrilling 39–34 home victory over Gardens in a match where both teams crossed for five tries. Rangers collected another valuable bonus point to stay clear at the top on 30 points.

Watsonia produced one of the key results in the division after defeating Scottsdene 34–25 away from home, scoring five tries in the process. That victory moved Watsonia into fifth place on 18 points, while Gardens dropped just outside the top six into seventh.

Eersterivier strengthened their top-three ambitions with a solid 22–15 home victory over Kylemore, leaving both teams level on 20 points alongside the division’s leading contenders. Delft impressed with a convincing 36–12 win over Caledonian Roses, while Raithby Universals defeated Atlantis 26–17 at home. Busy Bees also secured a useful away victory after beating Strand United 18–10.

The Paarl Region again delivered high-scoring rugby. Young Gardens strengthened their position at the top of the standings with an emphatic 57–38 away victory over Albions, scoring eight tries in the process. Paarl Rangers kept the pressure on the leaders after edging Perel United 36–33 in another entertaining encounter where both sides scored five tries.

Riverstones produced a valuable 28–18 home win against Lower Paarl, while Windmeul United delivered one of the biggest attacking displays of the weekend with a 62–31 victory over Drakenstein, running in nine tries. Although Albions lost heavily at home, they still remained sixth on 18 points, level with Young Standards just outside the top six.

In the Southern League, the top two remained unchanged following a 23–23 draw between Masiphumelele and Retreat. The result kept Masiphumelele top on 24 points with Retreat close behind on 23.

Blue Jets held on for a narrow 26–24 home win against Rocklands in a match where both teams secured four-try bonus points. Young Wesleys were among the biggest movers of the weekend after a dominant 60–8 away victory over Imiqhayi, scoring ten tries to reinforce their top-six ambitions.

Lagunya collected a useful away win after defeating Khayelitsha 31–0, while Titans produced one of the shocks of the round with a 33–30 home victory over Peninsula. Although Peninsula lost, they remained fourth in the standings.

Central League once again highlighted the consistency of Manenberg Rangers. Their 30–24 home victory over Elsies River United kept their unbeaten record intact and maintained their place at the top of the standings after seven consecutive wins.

Northerns strengthened their top-six position with a convincing 63–29 victory over Suburban, crossing for eleven tries in a powerful attacking performance. Silverleaf were equally impressive in their 43–0 win against Thistles, although they still remained outside the top six despite the bonus point victory.

The Northern League produced another dramatic finish when Blakes edged Excelsior 27–26 away from home in a match where both teams scored four tries. The result kept Blakes level at the top of the standings alongside Blue Stars United on 28 points.

Fisantekraal also recorded an important home victory after beating Whistling Wheels 38–21 with a four-try bonus point performance, handing their visitors another defeat in a tightly contested league campaign.

In Women’s League Division 1, Busy Bees Women impressed with a 30–5 home victory over CPUT Women, while Blue Jets Women secured a strong 36–15 away win over False Bay Women. UWC Women were dominant away from home as they defeated Belhar Women 55–7 in one of the biggest wins of the division this weekend.

In Women’s League Division 2, the only published result saw UCT Women suffer a 22–0 defeat away from home in a fixture where the home side was not listed on the official results page.

Across all competitions, bonus points continued to shape the standings as much as outright victories. Teams such as Durbell, Watsonia, Young Wesleys and Belhar turned strong attacking performances into valuable gains, while sides around the top-six cut line felt the pressure of every result as the league races continue to tighten heading deeper into the season.
