The Paarl Region on Saturday played out their finals between Paarl Rangers and Lower Paarl in the African Bank Championships to determine the Paarl League winner and Riverstones and Allandale for third and fourth place. The Paarl Region league title then ending up in the hands of Paarl Rangers after their 32 -26 victory, while 3rd place went to Allandale after their 32-26 victory over Riverstones.
The WPRFU Score Club Rugby sevens draw took place at the Tsogo Sun in Newlands on Tuesday evening with a mass turn out from the WP Clubs to receive their jerseys and draw for the Pool positions.
The top sixteen from the 2018 tournament were the first in line with their fixtures plotted across the four pools and the remainder of the clubs then drawing for position in accordance with their 2019 club rugby final league standings.
The evening was supported by Score Energy drinks, CTC Sports and African Bank turned out a big success as the clubs received their custom-designed jerseys and balls kindly donated by Joox. With the contribution of additional jerseys, the clubs will be able to use these jerseys during the 2020 season, yet another fantastic initiative from Score Energy Drinks.
Now that the fixtures are out, we see the first match kick-off at CPUT at 11:30 and the final matches are scheduled for 17:30.
Fans will be happy to know that in typical seven's rugby fashion the venue is prepared with the Bashews Kiddies zone with jumping castles and several other entertaining fan fun activities.
