The WPRFU HUBS development program continues to make the sport more accessible to all parts of the province.
In light of the stellar work that the HUBS program is doing, the WPRFU are offering two comprehensive match day experiences for the Test Match between the Springboks and the All Blacks with the proceeds going towards the HUBS Program.

The SA Select Women’s Sevens on Sunday finished the Hokkaido Invitational in Japan on a disappointing note as they suffered defeats in both their matches to finish the tournament in the eighth position.

The SA Select Women’s Sevens team, coached by former Springboks and Springboks Sevens speedster Jongi Nokwe was one of four international development sides that took on eight Japanese teams in Hokkaido.

The DHL WP senior women’s team will contest the final of the women’s Interprovincial League on Saturday when they challenge Border women at the BCM Stadium in East London. Kickoff is 15h30 and we wish our team all the best as they strive to upset the title holders and lift the coveted trophy.

In Club Rugby news, The Gold Cup kicked off this weekend and WP’s two representatives could not have hoped for a better start. 

Both Tygerberg and False Bay secured two impressive home wins and threw down a serious marker to the rest of the teams in the competition in the process.

False Bay ran in seven tries on their way to a 43 – 19 win over Boland Champions Roses United at the Phillip Herbstein.

Tygerberg meanwhile showed the watching world why they are not a team to take lightly as they ran out 54-27 winners over EP champions Gap Management Progress Uitenhage at Florida Park on Sunday.

Super League C Champions Vineyards are on course for a historic double as the defeated Langa 63 – 21 to book a place in the President’s Cup Top 6 Final. They will meet Scottsdene in the final after Alastair Siegelaar’s men ran out 51 – 12 winners over All Saints in Somerset West.

Franschhoek United pulled off a major upset on Saturday as they defeated Super League B Champions St George’s 31 – 29 at Gustrouw in their President’s Cup Top 6 semifinal. Hamlets will once again take their place in the final having beaten Villager 42 – 36 in their semifinal clash at Brookside on Saturday.
Reigning Super League A Champions Maties will play Hamiltons in the final of the President’s Cup Top 6 Competition.

The finals of the President’s Cup Top 6 and Bottom 8 competitions takes place on Monday 25th September at City Park.

In the Super League A competition, Union-Milnerton take on Vics, Rangers will play Young Peoples in the SLB final after both clubs won their semifinal matches this weekend while in the SLC competition, Strand United beat Macassar 21 – 16 and Kylemore defeated Strand RFC 39 – 10 to seal their final berths.

Totalsports and Treble will once again support the President’s Cup finals rugby day in their long standing partnership with WP Rugby in support of this premier club rugby competition.

All currently available public tickets for the Castle Lager Rugby Championship Test between the Springboks and the All Blacks at DHL Newlands on October 7 have been sold.

Public match tickets went on sale at 12h00 on Monday and were sold out in less than an hour, ahead of the All Blacks’ first visit to DHL Newlands since 2008.
