These coaches have been earmarked for higher honors and will meet every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at HPC to attend the course.
The course content is similar to the World Rugby Level 3 and will be followed by an assessment at the end of the year.
They will also work closely with the professional coaches and in a professional set-up to gain further exposure and critical experience.
DHL WP U21 Head Coach and WPRFU High Performance Manager Jerome Paarwater will be leading these courses having had extensive contact with these coaches in the past.
There are several exciting names on the list including Busy Bees’ Jongi Nokwe, Hamlets’ Gavin Passens, as well as Uni-Mil duo Ishma-eel Dollie and Adrian Jacobs.
The WPRFU have a clear mandate to ensure the upward trajectory of their local coaches. There are weekly coaching courses as well as club visits to ensure the local coaches are given the best possible opportunity to develop their skills.
The launch of the Coaches High Performance Program for club coaches took place last Wednesday at DHL Newlands. WP Rugby President, Mr Thelo Wakefield congratulated the participants on their selection and wished them well for the duration of the program.
